Accessibility
We strive to ensure that our events are accessible to everyone.

COVID-19 Safety
Urban Legends has a COVID-19 Safety Plan which is available on our social media channels and website. This document details the steps that we take at our in-person shows to ensure the safety and health of our community. All attendees will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and masks will be required (except for performers while they are on-stage).
Got ideas for how we can make our events safer?
We would love to hear them!
Content
Urban Legends does not vet its slam or open mic poets; all performers are responsible for their own words. Performers are strongly encouraged to give trigger or content warnings if their poems contain language or deal with topics that could be triggering. Urban Legends will have a designated active listener with a list of resources, however please note that our active listener does not have a certification and is not a mental health professional.
Most of our shows are currently held in the Arts Court Atelier Studio (2 Daly Avenue, Ottawa). 67 Nicholas is the accessible entrance for Arts Court. Then take elevator B to Level 1, then turn left to Elevator A to Level 2, and head right down the hall and the Atelier is the door at the end. The floors, doors, and washrooms are designed for wheelchair access.

When we are in a different venue, accessibility information specific to that venue can be found on the Facebook event page for the show.

Admission is Pay-What-You-Can and attendees can buy tickets online. Due to capacity limits, there are will be a limited number of tickets on sale - updates on how many tickets are left will be posted on Urban Legends' social media. If the event is not sold out, attendees will be able to buy tickets at the door.

A microphone and mic stand will be set up at the venue. The host or technician will be able to help poets adjust the mic as needed. There will be a 5-10 minute intermission around halfway through the show.
